Updated on

This document applies to upgrading the PEMP Android screen from Android 11 to Android 13. Since this is a significant version jump, please strictly follow the steps below. To increase the likelihood of success, we recommend referring to the official YouTube tutorial video: https://youtu.be/fRfgcs9gdi8

1.Preparations Before Upgrading

1.1 Hardware Requirements: Prepare a USB flash drive with a capacity of 32 GB or less, formatted as FAT32. Be sure to delete any unnecessary files from the drive beforehand to avoid conflicts during the upgrade.

1.2 Obtaining the update package: Before updating, please be sure to contact our after-sales team to obtain your dedicated update package,(After-sales email:service@pempcar.com)

1.3 Version CheckBefore upgrading, first confirm the current Android 11 software version on your device. The upgrade must be performed step by step; skipping any version is not allowed.

2.Upgrade Steps (Perform each step in sequence; all steps are required)

Step 1: Upgrade from an Android 11 version lower than 2.2.3

1.Copy the update files from the Step 1folder in the update package to the root directory of the USB flash drive (do not create a subfolder to store them).

2.Connect the USB flash drive to the USB port on the PEMP Android screen. Once the device is recognized, an update prompt will appear; click Yesto confirm the update.

3.Wait for the device to enter the update process and restart automatically. Be sure to remove the USB drive during the restart; otherwise, the update will run repeatedly.

4.After the device has restarted, check the version to confirm that it has successfully been updated to Android 11 v2.2.3. Proceed to the next step only after verifying the version.

Step 2: Upgrade from Android 11 v2.2.3 to Android 11 v2.4.4

1.Delete the update files from Step 1 in the root directory of the USB drive to avoid file conflicts; copy the update files from the Step 2 folder in the update package to the root directory of the USB drive.

2.Reconnect the USB flash drive to the device's USB port. When the update prompt appears, click Yesto confirm the update.

3.Wait for the device to update and restart automatically, then remove the USB drive during the restart.

4.After the reboot is complete, check the system version to confirm that it is Android 11 v2.4.4. Once verified, proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Upgrade from Android 11 v2.4.4 to Android 12 v1.5.4

1.Delete the update file from the root directory of the USB drive (as described in Step 2), and copy the update file from the Step 3 folder in the update package to the root directory of the USB drive.

2.Connect the USB drive to the device. When the pop-up window appears, click Yesto begin the update.

3.When the device restarts after an update, be sure to remove the USB drive promptly.

4.After the reboot is complete, check the system version to confirm that it is Android 12 v1.5.4. Only after the version has been verified can you proceed to the final upgrade steps.

Step 4: Upgrading from Android 12 v1.5.4 to Android 13

1.Copy the Android 13 update file to the root directory of the USB drive (be sure to delete all previous update files from the USB drive beforehand).

2.Connect the USB drive to the device. When the update prompt appears, click Yesto begin the update.

3.Wait for the device to update and restart automatically, then remove the USB drive during the restart.

4.After the device restarts, please check the version information to confirm that the upgrade to Android 13 was successful. The upgrade process is now complete.

3.Important Notes

1.Please use a USB flash drive formatted in FAT32 with a capacity of 32GB or less throughout the process. USB flash drives that do not meet these specifications will not be recognized.

2.After each upgrade step is completed, you must verify that the upgrade was successful; if the upgrade fails, you cannot proceed to the next step.

3.Each time you replace the update files, you must completely delete the previous update files from the root directory of the USB drive; otherwise, file conflicts may occur, causing the update to fail.

4.The device will automatically restart during the update. Be sure to remove the USB drive immediately after the restart. Do not disconnect the USB drive or power the device before the process is complete to avoid interrupting the update.

4.After-Sales Support

If you have any questions during the upgrade process, please contact our customer support team.
