1 Overview

Multiple ISO harnesses are supplied with the Mercedes-Benz Linux car screen. This guide describes the function and connection method of each wire and connector on the harness one by one, to help you complete wiring quickly during installation and properly troubleshoot audio issues.

Mercedes-Benz Linux products come with three types of ISO harnesses:

NTG4.0 version: Compatible with Mercedes-Benz NTG4.0 vehicles;

NTG4.5 version: Compatible with Mercedes-Benz NTG4.5 vehicles. It adapts the protocol interface from NTG4.0 to NTG4.5 based on the NTG4.0 harness;

NTG5.0 version: Compatible with Mercedes-Benz NTG5.0 vehicles. An additional AUDIO IN connector is added compared with the NTG4.0 / NTG4.5 versions.

We have explained the connection method and function of each wire in detail in the video. Please refer to our YouTube video for more details: https://youtu.be/PKo5FW5ws2k?si=Ak5DqQeyKDLzIycL

2 General Interfaces: Functions and Connection Methods

The following interfaces cover the basic installation wiring procedures.

2.1 ISO Male & Female Connectors

Function: Establishes a signal bridge between the Mercedes-Benz Linux screen and the factory head unit.

Connection Method:

1. Connect the ISO plug of the original head unit to the female connector of the ISO harness;

2. Connect the male ISO connector of the harness to the rear of the original head unit;

3. If your vehicle is equipped with an optical fiber cable, route it to the male ISO connector of the harness.

2.2 Power Supply Connector

Function: Supplies operating power to the Mercedes-Benz Linux device.

Connection Method: Simply connect this connector to the power line of the Mercedes-Benz Linux device.

2.3 MIC OUT Connector

Function: Factory microphone connector for the device, used to activate the original microphone function.

Connection Method: Mate the MIC OUT connector with the MIC IN jack on the RCA cable to use the factory microphone.

2.4 Protocol Connector

Function: Used for vehicle protocol matching. Incorrect protocol connection will cause the factory knob to stop working. Be sure to verify the version before installation.

Connection Method: If your vehicle is NTG4.0, connect the NTG4.0 connector to the matching NTG4.0 / 4.5 connector.

2.5 Audio Filter

Function: No operation is required under normal conditions. It is only used to troubleshoot audio distortion or noise.

Connection Method:

1. Open the audio filter box and disconnect the internal harness;

2. Mate the two connectors directly;

3. Recheck if audio noise or distortion persists.

2.6 NTG4.0 Speaker Connector

Function: This connector has no function for NTG4.0 vehicles and does not require wiring.

Connection Method: This connector is inactive on NTG4.0 vehicles. Refer to Section 4.1 for the speaker connector of NTG5.0 vehicles.

2.7 AUDIO OUT Connector

Function: This is the audio output port of the device, used to send audio from the screen to the factory sound system.

Connection Method:

If your vehicle is equipped with an AMI port: Connect the AUDIO OUT connector to the AMI adapter cable, then plug the AMI end into the AMI socket in the glove box.

If your vehicle is equipped with an AUX port: Connect the AUDIO OUT connector directly to the AUX IN socket in the glove box.

2.8 Linux Rear Camera / MIPI-SPDIF Connector

Function: This is an early camera harness interface. It is non-functional in the current version and will be removed in revised harnesses going forward.

Connection Method: No wiring required.

2.9 CAMERA +12V Wire

Function: Camera power supply wire, used together with the yellow RCA connector.

Connection Method:

Rear view camera wiring:

Front view camera wiring:

2.10 DVR IR Wire

Function: No wiring required for standard installation。

Connection Method: No wiring required.

2.11 AUX-DEL / DVR_POWER / 360 CAMERA DET Wires

Function: These three wires are generally inactive and do not require any connection. They will be removed in later updated harness versions.

Connection Method: No wiring required.

2.12 USB IN1 Connector

Function: Mainly used for wired CarPlay / Android Auto.

Connection Method: Connect the USB cable to the USB IN1 connector, and plug the other end into your mobile phone.

3 NTG4.5 Harness

Compared with the NTG4.0 harness, the NTG4.5 version only adapts the protocol wires. Duplicated harness sections will not be covered again here.

3.1 Protocol Wire (NTG4.0 to NTG4.5 Adapter)

Function: The NTG4.5 harness converts the NTG4.0 protocol signal to NTG4.5 to match the protocol of NTG4.5 vehicles.

Connection Method: Adapt the protocol wire from the NTG4.0 terminal to the NTG4.5 terminal.

4 Additional Interfaces for NTG5.0 Harness

Compared with NTG4.0 / NTG4.5 harnesses, the NTG5.0 version is fitted with an extra AUDIO IN connector.

Function: Used for NTG5.0 vehicles with factory AUX function to receive audio from the screen.

Connection Method: If your NTG5.0 vehicle supports the AUX function, connect the AUDIO OUT plug to the AUDIO IN connector.

4.1 Speaker Connector

Function: Used to resolve the issue where audio only plays from one speaker.

Connection Method: If sound only outputs from one vehicle speaker, install a small speaker at this connector to fix the problem.

4.3 AUDIO OUT Connector (NTG5.0 Version)

Function: This is the audio output port of the device, used to send audio from the screen to the factory sound system.

Connection Method: Connect the AUDIO OUT connector to the USB-to-AUX box; then plug the box into the USB socket in the glove box to output audio.
