Why is there no sound from CarPlay/Android Auto when using the radio?

1.Problem Description

Some customers have reported that CarPlay or Android Auto does not produce sound properly when the vehicle's radio is playing.

2.Reason:

This is due to a limitation of the BMW factory radio system: the factory radio cannot coexist with other media audio sources, as the system is designed to allow only one active audio output source at a time.

When the radio is playing, it occupies all audio channels, and the audio from CarPlay/Android Auto will be muted, so you will only hear the radio.

This is BMW's original design logic and is not a malfunction of the PEMP screen. Audio priority follows the vehicle's default settings to ensure system stability and compatibility.
