Why is one original vehicle cable left unconnected after installing the Linux screen?

Updated on

1.Overview

After purchasing a BMW Linux in-car display and completing the installation, customers may notice that one of the cables disconnected from the original display has not been reconnected, which raises questions.

2.Cable Description

The unconnected cable is the power supply cable for the original BMW screen, which is specifically designed to power the factory-installed screen.

After replacing the screen with a Linux-based unit, the power supply path has been optimized and upgraded: The Linux screen is powered directly via the dedicated ISO adapter harness included with the product. This ISO harness has been professionally calibrated to be fully compatible with BMW’s vehicle electrical system, ensuring a stable power supply to the Linux screen and guaranteeing the normal operation of all functions, including CarPlay, audio, and the rearview camera.

Therefore, after replacing the screen, the original factory screen’s power cable is no longer needed and does not require manual connection.

3.Operating Instructions

3.1 Do not force connections to unused cables: Forcing connections to unnecessary cables may cause system conflicts, short circuits, or even damage to the vehicle’s electrical system.

3.2 Cable Insulation: All unconnected factory cables or connections in the supplied cables must be wrapped with electrical tape to prevent electrical hazards or rattling noises in the interior.

3.3 Functionality Verification: After installation, please verify that the core functions are working properly. If you encounter any issues, please contact our after-sales team.
