1.Problem Description

Customer Inquiry: If the original car CD player is faulty or damaged, can a PEMP in-car display still be installed?

It has been confirmed that if the vehicle’s original head unit is completely damaged and unable to function properly, the PEMP screen will not be able to operate at full capacity. Whether running on Android or Linux, the PEMP screen relies on signal transmission and protocol interaction with the original head unit for the proper functioning of core features such as audio and controls. Damage to the head unit will result in no audio output and the inability to activate the vehicle’s original functions; the aftermarket system will only display visuals but will lack audio output capability.

2.Solutions

Solution 1: Prioritize Repair of the Original CD Head Unit (Recommended)

Solution 2: Temporary Use (Emergency Only)

When using the PEMP screen, you can connect via Bluetooth as usual to view maps using CarPlay. (Note: There is no audio.)
