1.Problem Description
Some users who have already installed an MMI BOX ask: Can I purchase an additional PEMP screen to use it as an external display for the MMI BOX?
Answer: No. The MMI BOX and the PEMP screen cannot be used simultaneously, and the PEMP screen is not supported as an external display for the MMI BOX.
2.Technical Principles
There is a fundamental conflict in the operating logic between the MMI BOX and the PEMP screen:
PEMP Screen: This must directly replace the vehicle’s original factory screen and connects to the factory head unit via a dedicated wiring harness to enable large-screen adaptation and display of the factory system; it serves as the exclusive display terminal for the factory head unit.
MMI BOX: While it also connects to the vehicle’s head unit, its function is to replace the signal output of the original screen, enabling extended features such as CarPlay and Android Auto.
Both devices fully utilize the display output port of the vehicle’s head unit for their hardware interfaces and signal pathways. Since they cannot be connected in parallel simultaneously, there is no possibility of sharing this port.
3.Purchase Suggestions
If you have already installed the MMI BOX, there is no need to purchase a PEMP screen separately, as the two are incompatible and cannot be used together;
If you prefer to upgrade to a large PEMP screen, you can choose the PEMP screen to enjoy a dual-system experience combining the original vehicle system with the aftermarket system, without needing to pair it with the MMI BOX;
