How do I update the system on an in-vehicle Linux Screen?

Updated on

This document will guide you through the process of manually updating the firmware and interface of your in-vehicle Linux infotainment system using a USB drive.

1.Preparations

1.Prepare a USB flash drive formatted in FAT32 with a capacity of no more than 32 GB.

2.Contact the PEMP after-sales team to obtain the latest system update package (after-sales email: service@pempcar.com).

3.Make sure the vehicle is parked and the power is on (we recommend starting the engine to prevent the update from being interrupted by a power loss).

2.Update Process

1.Preparing to upgrade the USB drive

1.1 Unzip the system update package you downloaded.

1.2 Copy all the extracted files directly to the root directory of the USB drive (do not place them in any subfolders).

2.Connect a USB flash drive

Insert the prepared USB flash drive into the USB port on the in-car Linux screen.

3.System Update

3.1 On the infotainment screen, navigate to:

Setup System Firmware Update System Update

3.2 Confirm the update action when prompted.

4.Update complete

4.1 Please wait for the update to complete. Do not turn off the device or remove the USB drive during this process.

4.2 Once the Update Successfulmessage appears, remove the USB drive.

4.3 The system will automatically restart, and a brand-new UI will appear on the screen.

3.Important Notice

1.Do not interrupt the update: Do not disconnect the power or remove the USB drive while the update is in progress.

2.File location: Make sure the update package is located in the root directory of the USB drive; otherwise, the system will not be able to detect the update.

3.Format Check: If the system cannot recognize the USB drive, please check whether it is formatted as FAT32 or exceeds 32 GB in capacity.

If the update fails multiple times, please contact the PEMP After-Sales Team for technical support.
